I support adults experiencing depression, anxiety, and other symptoms of trauma utilizing an evidence and strength-based approach. I believe a strong therapeutic relationship encourages an environment that is collaborative, supportive, and creative in doing the work of healing. My theoretical orientation is an eclectic blend with emphasis on humanistic and holistic theories, while considering attachment and neurophysiological principles. My practice is trauma-informed, acknowledging the potential impacts of ongoing systemic oppression on current presentation by utilizing a social justice lens. I offer multiple evidence-based modalities including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), SSP (Safe and Sound Protocol), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused- CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. I am also trained in Brainspotting Therapy and able to incorporate it into sessions.
I am a graduate of the Master of Social Work program through the University of Washington with a focus in mental health studies. I completed the Northwest Leaders in Behavioral Health Program while enrolled at the University of Washington. I hold a Social Worker Independent Clinical License (LICSW), WA credential #LW61535081. I have worked in the mental health field for over twenty years with eighteen years of experience providing mental health counseling, community outreach, and crisis triage in a community mental health setting. On days that I am not providing private therapy, I am employed as a mental health therapist working in the Student Based Health Clinic at the local high school.
Have you told your trauma story in the past and experienced some relief, only to have symptoms resurface? Do you feel disconnected from others or live with ongoing shame and guilt? Maybe you feel anxious or depressed even though things seem to be going well, or numb and disconnected from your body. Trauma has a tendency to impact your nervous system and can continue to be triggered even after talking about your trauma story with a therapist. I offer somatic and mindfulness-based interventions as well as "talk therapy" to guide you as you make use of your own innate healing properties to experience relief and wellness.
I accept HSW accounts and major credit cards. I do not panel with insurance but am able to provide a superbill for out-of-network benefits. My usual and customary fee is $160.00 per 50-minute session and $200 per intake. Please check with your insurance company to verify coverage prior to scheduling, as coverage varies by company and reimbursement is not guaranteed.
I am available for in-person sessions located in Port Townsend, Washington.
